Rest in peace Irfan Ali

Bookmark and Share

Today I mourn the loss of a twitter user @Khudiali Irfan Ali (Khudi) who was killed among over 115 others in Quetta blasts of Jan 10, 2013. His Twitter blurb says, “I am born to fight for human rights and peace. My religion is respect and love for all the religions. Global Citizen.” Irfan Ali, had rushed to the scene of the first blast to help injured and became a victim of the second. His last tweet was, “#Hazara families of #Machh, Khuzdir finally succumbed to the genocidal pressure and moving out. Sad day for diversity in #Balochistan.” His main concerns were Shial Genocide and safety of Hazara community.

Irfan Ali was a human rights activist and TEDx speaker. I remember meeting Irfan during Social Media Mela held in Karachi last year (July 2012). His smiling face will always remain etched in my memory. “He always stood up for the vulnerable and was on his toes all the time to serve humanity,” recalls Faizan, Irfan’s friend. A member of the viciously targeted Shia sect, Irfan, was very enthusiastic, gentle-natured and a dedicated supporter of peace and justice. His gentle presence will be sorely missed by us all,” says Insani Huqooq Itehad.

Rest in peace Irfan. May Allah Karim reward your services for the people? May your dream for peace and safety of your people come true?
