Sajini Chandrasekera
Firing arms and roaring planes
Heard in distance on a starry night
No where to run , no where to hide
Only the dark scary jungles at a side
Days and nights were never at peace
Distance cries and pain filled the ears
Marching soldiers all around the corners
Firing and shooting the enemy was their aims
Families were ripped away by war
Thousands helpless and no where to go
But the sounds of war had not stopped
Making every living being fear for life
Through out thirty years of devastating war
Loosing thousands of lives on the far
A little island was pleading for peace
For a peace yet so near but yet far
Finally GOD listened to our prayers
Sending angels from above
Together with their strength and courage
PEACE was the prize we had for all our tears
Three years have passed by in peace
No more shootings, explosions or killings
Remembering the heroes who gave their lives for us
And bowing our heads to all soldiers who fought for us....
