Making sense of blogging and social media

Blogspot or Googleblog

News is and it says that Google intends to change several non-Google name brands (Blogger and Picasa) as an effort to unify its brand and integrate all the services into Google +. Google intends to rename Picasa as “Google Photos” and Blogger may become “Google Blogs.”

Old blogger users are wondering how will this affect their blog SEO. What will happen to Page Rank and Permanent post URLs if the blogspot domains change into .googleblog.com. Any idea?

Google controls the web it will teach bots to replace blogspot with Google blog. Visitors coming from other sources or individual links will get properly redirected. The concern should not be the SEO.

A friend also argued that Blogger's brand needs a lift up because it has become home to many spammers and link builders who create random blogs and then just leave them as it it. He thinks that the name change will also come with a much stronger and strict spam protection and thousands of blogs will get suspended.

lets see what happens

Google is the Ace of the internet and things like SEO are not of any concern for Google. Actually, what new policy or algorithm they bring, the whole SEO industry changes with it, it doesn't affect the Giant Co. at all.

For Google, changing .blogspot.com into googleblogs.com will be just like renaming a file on a PC. They better know how to teach their bots(yes I believe that).
