I am a writer’s writer and that simply means that I love reading the written words. This includes anything from magazines, books, Bibles, newspapers and blogs. Blogging is an online personal diary written on or at a website and frequently updated for public viewing. It is a web journal where people who are called bloggers write about anything they want. Most bloggers write about things that move them such as love, sex, good books, gossip about television stars, family issues and musicians. Blogs can serve as a creative form of communication between writers and responders as well as a means of self-expression for those individuals who are merely seeking a sounding board. I enjoy blogging and have met some amazing blogging friends. Many of them share my love of the written word. We leave comments back and forth on each other’s blogs.

Bloggers may come and go, but more often than not, they return since writing stimulates us in one way or another. It is easy to stop blogging when it has served its purpose to the writer. I blog to relieve stress and to get things I want to say off my chest. Blogging makes me feel better because I am able to release whatever feelings I am currently experiencing.

I am a blog surfer. Any blogs that capture my attention are the ones that I return to again and again. My reading can range from hilarious, to sad, to weight loss to personal, if your writing inspires, educates or moves me emotionally you can be sure that I will return to read what you are writing on a regular basis.

I have many blogs that I love visiting and I have some that are my favorites. But every blog that I visit brings something new and interesting to blog land. Although I love so many blogs, there are some African American writers/bloggers that I visit frequently. Over the years some bloggers leave, or stop blogging and I just find another one to replace it.

My favorite blogs that I have been visiting since I started blogging in August 2006 are:

Brotha Buck: He is an excellent graphic art illustrator and also a great wordsmith. His posts are informative, funny and interesting. His own unique graphic artwork can be found there as well.
Deb Sistrunk: Deb is a media darling. She provides a bounty of information on marketing, media and educational issues.

Hassan: Hassan rants and raves about his life, his travels, politics, sex, relationships and a host of other topics. What is special about his blog is that he is a strong African- American male who is not afraid to say, I’m sorry or I was wrong. He writes with intensity.
Princess Dominique: Ms. Dominique also shares her thoughts on many issues. A very successful author of many books, she never fails to introduce her readers to a myriad of topics and discussions.

Ghetto Economics: Paula just simply tells it like it is. I enjoy all her blogs because she cleverly makes you laugh even when you should be crying. Sometimes you laugh even when you shouldn’t, but it’s the way she writes stuff that keeps bringing us back in high numbers.

Brownsoul: Blogs about life, being a newlywed and working.

Bunny: Up close and personal about life in general.

Another up close and personal blogger who shares herself with us. Great place to stop by.

Nikki: Honest and open about life and relationships

Chele: Chele raps about love, family and life skills.

These are the top African-American blogs that I read regularly. Trust me there are so many more of all races that are must reads for me. The simple truth is I love to read anything.

What are blog(s) to Me?

This blog is a resource for my thoughts. More often, I blog form impressions and or generate ideas to see how they invoke reactions, to keep track of others’ work in the fields of my interests, or simply to rant or point out things that come to my attention.

Also, I use blogging as a platform to prune ideas. This is where I meet others. And “I am neither geek, nor nerd, I am not a hacker, a phreaker, a programmer or any variety of technoid dweeb.”

What are blog(s) to you?

Internet is a lonely place without Blogs; a fine art and economics. Blogs are different to different people. I usually ask blogger friends to share their views on what is a blog to them?

Contribute your thoughts on blogging in general. In particular, write how you blog? Why? How blogging matters in life and work? Answer these questions and more (add what you feel is important dimension for you) and share {sajshirazi(at)gmail.com} here.
